What this engineer does
Full stack is the right hire for small teams, where a handoff between a front-end and a back-end engineer costs more than it saves. It is the wrong hire for a platform team that needs genuine depth in one layer, and we will tell you which you are.
Our screen is deliberately split: a data-modelling exercise and a front-end exercise, both on the same feature. Candidates who are strong on one side and bluffing the other do not pass, which is the common failure in this title.
Briefs we see most often
- A small product team that needs end-to-end feature ownership
- An MVP that has to reach paying users before it is optimised
- Internal tools nobody has capacity to build
- A feature backlog where handoffs are the bottleneck

All-inclusive and indicative, shown so you can compare us against a local hire. Monthly figures assume 160 hours a month and the same for the day-rate markets, so the two always reconcile. Engagements are contracted as a monthly capacity fee or a fixed-scope deliverable, with our own delivery lead accountable for the outcome — see engagement models. There is no setup fee, no recruitment fee and no management surcharge.
Questions
Hiring full stack developers
- How much does it cost to hire full stack developers in India?
- $28–38/hour all-inclusive through Skydream Digital, which is $4,480–6,080/month for a full-time engineer at 160 hours a month. That covers salary, employer costs, equipment, security tooling and management — there is no setup fee, recruitment fee or management surcharge on top. UK buyers pay £210–300/day, Australian buyers A$38–52/hour and UAE buyers AED 135–185/hour.
- Is a full stack engineer weaker than two specialists?
- On deep problems, yes. On feature delivery in a small team, no — and the lack of a handoff is usually worth more than the extra depth. Above about eight engineers the balance flips towards specialists.
- Which stack should we ask for?
- The one you already run. We staff TypeScript, Python, PHP, .NET and Java; choosing a stack your team cannot review is a worse decision than any staffing choice.
